The Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Assam has officially launched the Assam OBC Scholarship 2026 for eligible students belonging to the Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC), and De-notified, Nomadic & Semi-Nomadic Tribes (DNT/S-NT). The scholarship aims to provide financial support to deserving students pursuing education from Class IX up to higher education courses.
This scholarship is a centrally sponsored scheme implemented through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Eligible candidates can apply online and receive scholarship benefits directly into their bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

💰 Scholarship Amount & Benefits
Pre-Matric Scholarship
- Applicable for students studying in Class IX and Class X.
- Eligible students will receive a consolidated academic allowance.
- Scholarship Amount: ₹4,000 per annum.
Post-Matric Scholarship
- Applicable for post-matriculation and higher education courses.
- Financial assistance is provided for the complete duration of the course.
- Includes maintenance allowance, compulsory fees, and other approved benefits as per Government guidelines.

Citizenship

Family Restriction
Only two boys from the same parents/guardian can avail the scholarship. However, there is no restriction for girls.
Annual Income Limit
The total annual income of parents/guardians from all sources must not exceed ₹2.5 lakh per year.
Income Certificate must be issued by the concerned Circle Officer of the Revenue Circle.
